Looking for help vs Archer civs was created by Brandonriordan2007
Hey! I am currently enrolled in a low ELO (1k under) tournament. I've scouted my opponent a bit and it seems like he like to go 2 ranges with the British with no fuedal aggression and also a fast castle with the turks. I generally play Celts or Huns, with a drush...
I guess I just want to know what the best way to shut down the fuedal archer rush and turks deathball might be.
Thank you!

Hey,
Against archer rush you have few options, these are some i would recommend;
1. Go man at arms and into full skirmishers (we are adding man at arm class in next few days, it has instruction video for that)
2. Go straight skirmishers, we don't have build for that currently but i can make one; just as simple explanaition you can go use the man at arm build, but instead of sending last 2 on gold (also you don't need to build barrack in dark age) send the last 2 villagers to wood, and after feudal click, send 5 more to build another lumbercamp. After feudal make 1 range, bit axe and horse collar and use villagers under TC to farm. Then add blacksmith depending on when you can affort it
Not only getting fletching is important, but getting the +1 armor after fletching. It will change the damage coming from archers from 2 damage to 1 damage per arrow.
You said you like to drush, which can work but you want to go for drush+feudal and then into skirms (there is a build for that, look for drush to skirm/archer) instead of mixing archers you don't need to send anyone to gold early feudal but just make skirms instead. Start with 1 range in the beginning and then get blacksmith and fletching, then you can add another range.
Against turk janissaries i would recommend any feudal aggressive build order, for example man at arms into archers. Denying him from getting into castle and building a castle is your best option. Once and if he gets the castle up you if you went for archers they are good option, you just want to make sure that you get ballistics, and that you want him to never get to big numbers (meaning, trying to fight him before he has a big mass)
Let me know if you got any follow up questions,
Jupe
